MG S5 EV
- Up to 480 km driving range (WLTP)
- Maximum Euro NCAP safety rating
- State of the art infotainment
With the S5 EV, MG introduces an elegant yet sporty model in the fast‑growing segment of mid‑size electric crossovers. Beyond its attractive design and premium presence, this newcomer brings plenty to the table: a spacious interior, a high level of technology and a surprisingly comprehensive standard specification.
MG no longer needs an introduction. The brand, originally British, has completely reinvented itself and built a strong reputation for producing reliable, well‑equipped, safe and stylish cars. Last year, MG surpassed the milestone of one million vehicles sold in Europe – clear proof that the brand is winning both the hearts and minds of demanding European drivers.

Striking design, premium finish
The S5 EV is built on MG’s advanced Modular Scalable Platform and was designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle. Thanks to its ultra‑slim 110 mm horizontal battery cell construction, the MG S5 EV combines a sleek, aerodynamic appearance with impressive interior space, versatility and driving comfort. A distinctive feature is the Cyberster grille with integrated main and dipped headlights. A nice design touch is the “chequered flag” motif incorporated into the LED daytime running lights and rear light clusters.
Inside, the quality impression is immediately apparent. The layered dashboard creates a calm, spacious feel thanks to its horizontal lines, which continue into the doors. The hexagonal steering wheel instantly stands out, offering better visibility of the digital instrument display while subtly referencing the MG logo. Overall, the level of equipment and finish is best described as generous – comfortably exceeding what’s typical in this segment.

Highest safety certification
MG places great importance on both active and passive safety. The new S5 EV has been awarded the maximum five‑star rating by the independent Euro NCAP organisation. The electric SUV scored 90% for adult occupant protection, 82% for child protection, 82% for vulnerable road users and 78% for its active safety systems, placing it among the safest vehicles in its class.
Euro NCAP particularly praised the excellent crash protection and the extensive array of preventive safety technologies. Every S5 EV comes standard with MG Pilot, a comprehensive suite of driver‑assistance systems designed to make every journey safer and more comfortable. Features include autonomous emergency braking, lane‑keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and blind‑spot detection. Unique to MG is the MG Pilot Custom function, allowing drivers to personalise and store their preferred assistance settings.

Three variants
The MG S5 EV is available with two battery sizes: a 49 kWh Standard Range and a 64 kWh Long Range. Buyers can choose between two trim levels – Comfort and Luxury. The Luxury version is always combined with the larger battery, resulting in three variants in total.
The Standard Range uses LFP battery technology. These lithium‑iron‑phosphate cells are more durable and less prone to wear. On paper, they offer a driving range of up to 340 km. At a fast charger, it takes just 26 minutes to charge from 10 to 80%.
Prefer extra power and, above all, longer distances? Then the Long Range version is the ideal choice. It uses a conventional NMC battery (nickel‑manganese‑cobalt) and delivers a range of up to 480 km. Fast‑charging from 10 to 80% takes around 30 minutes. On a wallbox or public AC charger, it supports charging at up to 11 kW. Interestingly, the battery can also function as a power source for external devices, such as a vacuum cleaner, a DJ set or an electric bicycle.
