We are recruiting for an AML and CDD specialist to join our Risk Operations team.
The team is responsible for the on boarding and on-going monitoring of the company’s business relationships and supports the wider Risk and compliance function on business protection projects and activities.
This is a hybrid role where you will be expected to be in the Bristol office at least 1 day per week.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- To undertake customer due diligence reviews, gathering required documentation and completing a risk assessment for clients, suppliers and partners at on boarding and review stages of the relationship.
- To ensure that information provided by the applicant is relevant, complete, and fit for purpose and risk decisions are made in accordance with company policy.
- To investigate screening alerts (covering sanctions, politically exposed persons, adverse media or ESG / reputational concerns)
- To provide clear and accurate audit trails for CDD / KYC files.
- To raise potential KYC concerns (AML, CTF, regulatory) to the MLRO and to report all cases of suspected financial crime to the Financial Crime Team
- To escalate complex issues to the management team with suggested proposals on the course of action.
- To build and maintain strong relationships across the business, acting as a point of contact for business acceptance and ongoing monitoring queries.
- To review departmental business processes and training material to ensure they are fit for purpose
- To promote a positive compliance and risk culture across the business by providing training and coaching session.
- To coordinate with the Credit Analysts to complete tasks and documentation in a timely manner to achieve service level agreements.
- To achieve defined quality and efficiency standards within the decision-making process.
- To participate and support as necessary on any relevant risk and compliance projects or workstreams.
Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 1 year’s practical experience of completing CDD within industry
- Extensive KYC / CDD knowledge and experience, for different legal entity types including knowledge of company structures and financial accounts
- Use of industry tools within an operational role such as WorldCheck1, LexisNexis
- Demonstrate good technical knowledge of Financial Services and Money laundering Regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication including the ability to effectively communicate and justify business acceptance decisions to partners and handle challenging conversations.
- Proactive time management & organisation skills with the ability to juggle priorities to meet deadlines and work to service level agreements.
- Strong analytical ability required with a structured approach to work and superb attention to detail.
- Good standard in IT literacy with Microsoft excel.
