Answering the key questions about an EV company car fleet
Here Specialist Consultant Natasha (Tash) Turner explains how Ayvens can also support organisations who want to electrify their company car fleets, particularly when it comes to some of the key questions they need to answer.
In a previous article, we looked at the value of salary sacrifice to encourage employees to switch to electric vehicles. It’s an area where our consultancy team can make a real difference in helping companies with a successful implementation.
“It can be hard to identify the optimal funding method to allow for a cost-effective transition on your own. One customer we worked with asked us to provide an expert perspective for their employee car ownership scheme. We carried out a full review of their options and provided them with a proposal for a fully EV car scheme based on contract hire funding. This was accepted and implemented. Within a short period of time, over half of the vehicles were electric and there is a plan in place for all the remaining vehicles to be replaced by the end of 2025.
It can also be a challenge to create an EV company car scheme that works for everyone. A couple of years ago, one customer asked us to look at the best way to move their scheme from a mixed range to electric vehicles only. We carried out comprehensive modelling at various grades so we could ensure that what they offered was attractive for all employees. The results were very encouraging, with a significant rise in the proportion of electric vehicles in the fleet.”
