With the ban on petrol and diesel cars now less than seven years away, and the Prime Minister recently reaffirming this 2030 deadline, this is a good time for companies and drivers to start thinking seriously about the transition.

Progress is clearly being made – one in six vehicles registered so far in 2023 is battery-electric (according to the SMMT) and the BVRLA’s latest data shows that over half of Business Contract Hire deliveries are electric – but there’s also a lot further to go.

We wanted to understand what has encouraged people to make the switch and what might be holding others back from starting the transition. That’s why we teamed up with OnePoll to asked 2,000 UK consumers, including a quarter who drive for work, to tell us what they look for in a new car.
