Following in the footsteps of the new Mercedes GLC with EQ technology, the electric C‑Class features an impressive, eye‑catching front design. The large vertical radiator grille is made up of 1,050 pixels and translates the classic chrome grille into a modern, electric interpretation. Both the outline and the panel can be illuminated, and Mercedes even offers light animations when opening, locking or charging the car. The headlights with their refined star‑pattern design complete the iconic look.
From every angle, the first electric C‑Class makes a powerful statement. The low, flat front, sleek roofline and smoothly rounded rear create a coupé‑like silhouette. The smooth body surfaces improve aerodynamic efficiency, supporting its long‑distance credentials. Integrated door handles enhance airflow further and automatically extend when the key is nearby, retracting again when you walk away.
New platform, new possibilities
The electric C‑Class is completely new from bumper to bumper and integrates the latest drivetrain technology. Most of the power comes from an electric motor on the rear axle, delivering an efficiency of up to 93% over long distances. To maximise efficiency even further, Mercedes uses a two‑speed transmission: the first gear ensures smooth acceleration and strong pulling power, while the second gear lowers motor revs at motorway speeds, making the C‑Class an outstanding long‑distance electric car.
The C 400 4MATIC achieves a range of up to 760 km on a full charge. Its fast‑charging capability is equally impressive, adding up to 325 km of range in just 10 minutes. Optional AIRMATIC air suspension proactively adapts damping to the road surface, allowing the car to glide over speed bumps and potholes while remaining composed through corners – especially when combined with rear‑wheel steering. This system improves stability and reduces the turning circle to that of a city car.
Hyperscreen or Superscreen
The optional MBUX Hyperscreen takes the driving and interior experience to the next level. Measuring 99.3 cm (39.1”), it is the largest screen ever fitted to a C‑Class, delivering razor‑sharp visuals thanks to high resolution and an advanced matrix backlight with over 1,000 LEDs. Screen brightness can be adjusted individually, allowing a passenger to watch a film without distracting the driver.
Alternatively, there is the MBUX Superscreen: three displays housed under one continuous glass surface. Both systems run on powerful chips and real‑time graphics powered by the Unity Game Engine. The passenger display includes a camera‑based privacy function that limits driver distraction while maintaining full functionality for the passenger.
