Back to school:
9 tips to take children by car every day
Back to school represents an opportunity for adults and children to share a space that, although short, is especially significant in daily communication between parents and children. The car is the scene of that special moment.
The first day is especially traumatic. Everything seems to go wrong, and it also seems that the summer holidays have made us forget the routine we had already learned.
But there is nothing to do. September has come and with it the school, the hustle and the races in the morning. It is advisable to review these precautions that we must follow daily while taking our children to school by car.
**1-Check the car in advance **The night before, take a few minutes to check the car and check that everything is in order. Make sure that car is tanked or charged, so you can avoid the hassle in the morning.
**2- Check the departure time **The night before, check the departure time, which, generally on the first day, is different from normal hours and set the alarms to leave enough time for the preparation in the morning.
**3-Check what you need to bring before leaving **There are many things that kids need to bring to school: backpack, food, books, uniform etc. Make sure that all is prepared and, in the car, before you leave. So, you do not have to return home, wasting time and patience.
**4- Leave on time **Your children are not the only ones in town who start school that day. To avoid any irritation on the first day, leave the house with enough time left and mentally prepare yourself for the typical delay and traffic of the first day of school. Especially if it is raining, parking around the school on the last minute can be tricky.
**5-Children under 12 years in the back seat **Security is very important. You already know that traffic regulations indicate that children under 12 years old should only travel in the back seat and if applicable using a child seat or booster seat.
**6-All passengers with seat belts **On the way to school and on any trip, short or long, that you undertake with children, the use of a seat belt is mandatory for everyone. Statistics indicate that most traffic accidents with fatalities are due to the lack of use of seat belts.
**7-Create interest in the new school year **Once on the way, with the full arsenal, talk about how exciting this new school year will be. Emphasize the good times they are going to experience. New friends, new subjects, learn about the experiences of friends during the summer.
**8-If there is a traffic jam, do not be annoyed **You know there will be a traffic jam on the first day of school. So don't be annoyed. Do not stress. Let the children feel that this is normal on the first day. Take the opportunity to talk or listen to music together!
**9-Park in the right place **Generally, parking around schools when you drop the children or pick them up, can be a drama. Some parents often abandon the children in the middle of the road, so that they reach the sidewalk and enter the school. The correct thing to do is to find a free place, even if you have to walk a bit longer. If you park next to the school, pay attention to the children when you park or leave the parking spot.
Have a safe trip!
